• Screen is always on. Backlight does require you to touch the screen or push a button to light up if dark.

• No. The time is always visible. To see your heart rate, step count, miles walked, etc., you swipe the face.

• The watch function is always on the home-screen of the watch, but you do have to touch the screen or a button to get the backlight to come on.

• It's always on! Just at night in order to turn on the back like you tap it and it turns on. There is an option to always have it on but obviously it'll drain the batter faster.

• Has multiple screen types to view the time. The time is an option to display. The default image in the photos are when the surge is in an exercise mode.

• The screen that you last used is on. If it is the steps screen, it stay on the steps screen. But I have it on the watch face most of the time. I haven't had any issue with it changing during the day.
