It only tracks runs/hikes etc when you turn on those functions (very easy to do so, takes about 5-10 seconds). The other benefit of this is battery life is extended because it's not constantly looking for GPS signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The FitBit Surge specifically works with your personal step distance, which you set up when you set up your device. It also works with GPS, so it is supposed to be a lot more accurate for things like that. You can also set it up to track things like cycling, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No but if you log Driving as an exercise it will take the steps and floors away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does not track your driving or riding. It counts your steps when walking and your heart rate for calories burning. The GPS does not turn on unless you set it to free running or another program.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did not see that mine tracked my drive to or from work. I can only assume that yours would not either.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tracking cannot be turned off but you can negate them in the activity log on the website Fitibit dashboard. You just have to keep track of when you rode the bus. I had this issue once when riding on a horse so I negated the time when I was riding.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It only tracks where you are going if you turn it on. I use a treadmill most of the time, so when I go for a walk and I do turn on the track my exercise feature on. It will just track yours steps the rest of the time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
