• Several inches hangs outside. It is a relatively large unit and the vents require several inches in clearance. If your security bars are less than 12 inches away from your window frame, this unit wouldn't work for you.

• Most of the unit is outside. Only 4 inches on the inside to the edge of the window pane. The rest is outside
