Hi Teacher1! Thank you for your inquiry. In researching, we were able to see that noise level ranges from low to high on this model. For proper and installation, we recommend following the Installation Guide according to your window. The air conditioner comes with a mounting hardware kit that includes screws and lock frames, which aids in mounting the air conditioner. There is a possible chance that outside bugs maybe able to go through the vent and unfortunately there is not a way to prevent that.
