This Beverage Center acts exactly like a refrigerator, since you are able to vary the temperature anywhere between 33° — 50°F, as indicated on the Product Spec Sheet (attached). It keeps the cold temperature very well due to its well sealed door. It can chill your favorite beverage, almost to freezing point, which is 32° F. So, indeed, you can refrigerate milk, cheese and meats since the typical Refrigerator temperature is around 39°-40° F. But remember that you are likely to freeze your vegetables if you set the temperature too low, i.e. lower than 37. Also, the surface area of each glass shelf (not wire shelf) is ample for placing a large party tray or Pyrex pan. I am very pleased with my choice since my reason for buying this "beverage center" is that it truly acts like a "Refrigerator with large shelves" ... occupying much less space than a typical refrigerator.
