“If the electric power is lowered due to extreme heat in LA, might my OLD upright freezer in the garage not keep temps at 0 degrees? Also top of garage refrigerator.. Do I need this new one?”

I can't comment if it takes more electricity to keep the freezer cold. But, we just had a major heat wave in early September 2017 and everything stayed perfectly frozen in my freezer that was in my ridiculously hot non-air conditioned garage.
