• I think this willanswer your question, You take the casing off the unit and install in window first. Then put the unit back together in windowl. So no separate casing.

• The 15,000 BTU unit works very well with an energy saver. It is a complete unit with it's own sleeve. My unit fit into a fixed sleeve that was left by the old unit that was larger and pulled out of it's case.
