Unit does turn itself off. I suggest getting a larger unit for the space you described as being very damp and 250 sq ft.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a hose connected to my 30 pint machine & it runs into a drain pipe in my basement and then to my sump pump. I would assume it would turn off when the container is full, that is what it says in the description!

You also have the option to connect a hose and let it drain through that... provided you have a convenient place for it to drain to. This is a great unit and works well. You may have to empty once a day if you can't use the hose option.
