Depends upon your particular window. Measure your window sill for depth from the inside point where the window closes since that is where the unit will extend from. Measure from there to the outside (bottom) of the sill. Then measure the length of the outside protruding portion from the unit mounts near the front of the unit. Subtract the sill measurement from the unit measurement. The answer will be the amount of inches outside of the window.
