    Defective & lack of Customer Svc. follow-through

    We bought this air conditioner last Fall, and while it does cool well enough, the fan will not continue running after the compressor shuts off, even when in Cool mode. I called Frigidaire Customer Service a month ago, and they agreed that it was defective. They were going to send me a confirmation letter with instructions on how to cut the cord to the unit, then mail them a photo of the air conditioner showing that the cord is cut, as well as a copy of the receipt. After they receive my mail back to them, they would then mail me instructions on replacing the air conditioner. That last process alone could take about 10-14 days. In the meantime, after the cord-cutting, etc. process, we will be in the Texas Gulf Coast with no air conditioner. To date, we have yet to receive any correspondence from Frigidaire. We are still using the air conditioner, but it cuts off in the middle of the night, even though it is not in Eco mode. It is so loud that when it cuts off, the silence wakes us up. We have gotten used to the noise, but this air conditioner is quite a bit louder than the Frigidaire that it replaced. We are now getting into the heat of the season, and waiting for them to process this by mail is ridiculous, even if they sent us the letter when we called in. We've had Frigidaire units before, but their quality has gone downhill from what they used to be.

    Fantastic air conditioner

    Recently my a/c unit gave out it was also a Frigidaire i had it for 12 years it was a 10,000Btu unit but was really outdated (using high amount of amps 9.7--925watts/10.8 efficiency the back of the unit got rusty and the aluminum fins got destroyed in the process. so looking at these new units i decided on this 8000 Btu unit for a few reasons #1 it only Pulls 6 amps /#2 its only using around 660watts and the efficiency rating is also higher 12.1. this unit blows just as hard or more than my tired old 10,000 btu unit did. the install was a piece of cake took me about 30 minutes and all is well again with the temperatures in long beach ca getting higher every year i need the a/c in my apartment.there simply is no other 2 ways about it i just cant go without air conditioning these days unless you want to sweat you butt off all the time i like to be comfortable with that being said this was a good purchase and a bargain @239.00 i got the extended warranty also and probably wont need it as i mentioned beforehand my old unit lasted 12 years.

    Did Not Cool

    I purchased this item as an “open box” purchase for a 300 square foot room. Imagine my frustration when after getting up 3 flights of stairs and installing, the thing did not cool. I ran it for 2 hours, it would alternate between cooling air for 10 min, and hot air for 30 min. I checked ALL settings, it was NOT on eco mode or fan mode. I brought it back to exchange thinking maybe its because it was open box. To my surprise, there were TWO people in front of me returning NEW Frigidaire air conditioners. One was the same BTU as mine, the other was higher. Both customers had the same complaint as I did. There was also a gentleman behind me asking us questions because his stopped working after 1 summer. He was trying to figure out if he could still return it. Glad I saw that, decided to go with a different brand.

    ... so my central air went out...

    ... in my +/- 2200 sq ft two-story house. During a heat wave. I bought two of these in hopes it would "take the edge off" until I figured out what's wrong with the central air. We installed one in the middle of the first floor and one in our bedroom upstairs, with a box fan on each floor to help circulation. Much to my surprise they are keeping the whole house completely comfortable! And even though I fixed the central air I'm still just using these as a scientific experiment to see if it's a little cheaper (I think it will be). Only gripe is that they aren't particularly quiet. If you tell it to stay on low fan speed it's acceptable background noise you can sleep thru; any higher fan setting (or the smart "eco" setting that cycles it on and off) and there's a good chance it'll wake you up. All in all happy with the purchases!

    Was excited about getting a new AC, decided to get one a little bit more expensive and had a lot more BTUs than the 5000BTU one ive been using in my bedroom and this thing just flat out doesnt perform like an 8000 BTU AC should. doesnt blow cold air, eco mode is horrible due to how loud it is, it will wake you up everytime it turns on randomly. it has a temp gauge that only goes down to 60 and will not make a 12 by 12 foot room go any lower than that which is horrible in my opinion. my 8 year old 5000 BTU AC blows colder air and will drop the temperature in my bedroom far quicker and better than this waste of money. honestly disappointed and plan on taking it back

      Hi Rick! We hate that you are not enjoying your purchase. Based on the information provided, the air conditioner may be too large for the area. Selecting the correct sized air conditioner for the room’s square footage is essential for efficient cooling. For an area of 12 x 12, a 5,000 btu air conditioner would be more effective in cooling the area. When selecting an air conditioner, larger is not always better. Hope this helps!     When I bought this AC I was super happy. Came with instructions and I was able to find a video in youtube of this AC. The cooling is great I can't complain. Id freeze in my room If I keep it on for 30 minutes. The only problem is the control stops working to higher or lower the degrees. The up button on the AC does not work as good it has a lag; but does the ac work for cooling yes the AC works fantastic. This AC has power saver mode which will turn off and on to make sure the room temp is just about right. I like to use the fan mode because I wont freeze as I would if I press the cool button.

    Looks nice. Keeps room cool (my bedroom has very high ceilings - about 10ft) and it’s not a small room, als gets direct sunlight most of the day. This AC keeps the room at a comfortable cool temperature even when it’s in the 90s outside. Even keeps the attached bathroom comfortable, as well as the adjoining room. So overall very worth it. Noise level is what you’d expect. It’s very even white noise, so it’s easy to filter out, and yes, I do have to turn my tv on louder, but that’s a bit obvious, but the ac doesn’t interfere with the sound clarity. I’d recommend this AC. Good design. Keeps room(s) properly cool. Quiet enough (or at least the white noise is even with no particular deviation so it’s easy to filter out - could be quieter though).

    This is the third of three a/c units I've purchased this summer, one a 10,000 BTU, another a 6,000 BTU, and this the 8,000 BTU. I had first purchased a similar 8000 BTU from Home Depot because I couldn't find it on the Best Buy site (they list it within the square footage of the room, but not the BTUs). The other unit from Home Depot, also a Frigidaire, was a disaster. Never worked, never cooled, controls did not operate as promised. So I looked further, looked deeper, and found this. I could not be happier. And of course the BestBuy delivery was prompt. Lesson learned? Not all Frigidaire A/C units, even if they're the same BTU, are the same. These units from BestBuy are wonderful. Could not be happier.

    It too loud on the lowest setting. Just pick this up for memorial weekend sale. Wow i should have listen to the reviews on the lowest setting it sounds like jet engine for get medium and high. Think i`m taking it back and honestly it doesnt seem that cold in room after a day of use. We had high humidity today but it was only 85f scared to think of how it gonna work when it gets into upper 90-100f.... Wish i could post video and sound it unreal how loud it is .

    Frigidaire lives up to both the pros and cons of its previous reviews. Would not have bought a Frigidaire brand as had read and it does have a high pitched sound at times and is as loud as our previous AC, had there been another brand that had the right dimensions for where needed it for the size needed. However, it seems to be working fine and that is what we needed for these HOT months. Also the price was good for this item. We expect it to last for at least 5 yrs as our previous ACs have. Thanks Best Buy for having such good repayment plans.

    My unit was easy to install. Came with plenty of different types of foam insulation strips to provide a great fit. Unit has been running almost constantly without a problem. Easy to control by using the panel or the remote. Temperature sensor in remote works well to get the temperature fairly constant in the room. Have been using the unit in a window at the top of a stairwell to reduce the heat coming up from lower level and provide a cool hallway to the bedrooms. (Can leave doors open now for better air distribution.)

    I replaced an older unit with this one. The old one was a 5k btu 15 years old. This new unit I'm reviewing is larger, but then again my room is 230 sf . It cools fast going from 89f degrees to 74 in maybe 10 minutes. It's been over 100+ degrees these last few weeks and I'm able to maintain the room temp to 76 f degrees. I like that it shuts down when set to ECO mode so I don't have to worry about getting up late at night to change the temp I've very happy with this purchase.

    Central AC/Heat Pump went out on very hot summer day, and I did not have the resources to have a new unit installed. Had to be concerned for my family & pets. Best Buy had some window a/c units in stock, and I made a quick purchase of two. They are relatively easy to install, and before the sun set, house temperatures dropped to a level comfortable to all. You gotta' do what you gotta' do in an emergency, and these units will suffice until a new house system can be installed.

    This is my first window AC unit and in this heat, I am so glad that I purchased it. I love the fact that it has a remote control so I can make changes without having to get up in the middle of the night to do so. I usually use it on the eco mode, which means it will turn off when the room reaches the desired temperature. It does turn back on when the room warms, as well. I am not going to lie, this does tap your electricity pretty good. Only 4 stars because this unit is loud.

    Fairly quiet but could make room cooler. Room gets to about 78 that's about it. Room is 12 x 18 with cathedral ceiling, which is probably the issue. Should have purchased the 10k btu unit. Switches to eco mode unless you bypass. Like most units you have to set the temp 5 degrees lower or it stops cooling too soon. Could not get remote to work at first. Showed temp but pressing buttons did nothing. Maybe my fault as it works now.

    Bought this unit when our air conditioner went out on a friday evening and the repair guy couldn't get out until Tuesday. In the 90's the whole time. Put this in our bedroom window and it kept us cool the whole time. It is a little loud and the cooler temps come with a lot of extra moisture but that was a small price to pay for being cool. Keep in mind that when you take the unit out of the window to remove it does leak water.

    First, it’s really loud. Second, the eco setting doesn’t work. It never shuts off and that is because it doesn’t cool well in that mode. It’s actually a more tolerable noice level in cool mode and cools a lot better. Fortunately, it does what I need it to do. Unfortunately, the eco mode was on my ‘must have’ list and that feature is useless.

    We originally ordered this unit and we received a returned/used unit by UPS shipment. We were not happy at all. I had to drag it down to the store and got a refund. We were hesitant to reorder, but we did. It installed easily and has worked great for about 2 months so far. It uses much less power than our old unit (measured with watt-meter). We would recommend this unit.

    This Frigidaire window air conditioner is great. Its a nice size and n has enough options to be helpful but not so many that it’s Confusing. I have it in my living room and it easily cools it down even on the extremely hot days. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is bc It’s remote makes it convient but it doesn’t seem to work half the time and the air conditioning unit Is loud.
