“If I have a gas connector that is approx a 5" pipe from the floor and that is 1.5 inches from the wall, can it be installed flush against the wall. In other words, does the indentation on the backside accommodate connectors?”

Hello Karen! Yes, the open space in the rear of the unit accommodates for connectors and wires. Please refer to the installation manual to receive the exact measurements for the open space.
