Inside every refrigeration unit (i.e.: air conditioner) there is a compressor. The compressor circulates refrigerant and compresses it from a gas to a liquid continually. The compressor is lubricated by oil which sits in the bottom of the cylindrical can containing the compressor itself. If you install it in any other position than horizontal/flat, the oil inside that can will move to a position where it will do no good. Also, the liquid refrigerant in the evaporator (the "radiator of cold") will not flow correctly. In short, you will bring the unit back to the store because it "stopped working" within a few days--if not hours. Try one of those indoor coolers with the plastic duct that hangs out the window. That should work better for a vertical application.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My measurement shows it should fit into a window opening 19 inches wide by 12 inches high. You would be advised to ask an air conditional expert if it would on it's side.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend that air conditioner model FFRE0533Q1 is installed in a vertical position as it will not be able to perform as designed. We can recommend air conditioner model FRA084KT7 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/frigidaire-8000-btu-slider-casement-air-conditioner-white/2963173.p?id=1218368596181&skuId=2963173&st=categoryid$abcat0907005&cp=1&lp=20), which is known as “slider casement air conditioner” is much narrow in its design. Please review this appliance and see if it fits you’re your needs. -Best Regards-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Can Frigidaire window air conditioner be stored vertically for the winter and then installed horizontally in a window for the Summer and operate properly?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NO! most a/c units require it to sit horizontally. You will kill the compressor and that would be a waste of a good product!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think so. The unit comes with a warning that if it is tipped on its side, it needs to be returned to horizontal position for several hours before operating, to allow fluids in compressor to return to their normal place. Otherwise, you'll burn out the unit. Sounds like you might need a "portable" unit, where only the vent hose mounts in the window. (I have no experience with those - only read about them.) Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.not doable
