Hi JRP! Thank you for your inquiry. In researching, we are not showing that it is recommended to be exhausted through a wall. The water typically evaporates. However, if for any reason the bottom tray gets full, you will possibly receive a “P1” message on your display that alerts you to drain the tray; which is normal. Hope this helps! -Thanks!-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have no knowledge of this brand of portable AC, but I can tell you that indeed it will generate more condensate than can be blown out the exhaust on humid days. I know this because I have had many of these things and they all do it. They desperately want you to believe the unit does not require draining and indeed that is true but only on days that do not have high humidity. On the days that do it will leak all over your floor - believe me you! I can also say this - If indeed there was no need to drain this AC bet the Condo there would be no drainage method at all. Furthermore I highly suspect that this AC can be drained automatically thru the window exhaust but you will have to make a heavy duty stand (the proper height) with a drain pan on top fitted with a drain hose. The entire AC will need to sit in the drain pan with the drain hose running out thru the window exhaust adapter - which will require a hole to be drilled in the adapter the same size as the hose you use for the drain pan. I apologize for Best Buy and Frigidaire refusing to explain the details of these devices. It is apparently way to much to ask for them to go to any trouble to make clear how these things work. I would also think this AC would be a very good buy if and only if you could make the described stand and drain pan required for proper drainage because Frigidaire is a good company and this AC is one of the lightest if not THE lightest portable AC made. And in the end because you bought this thing for portability you will come to love the light weight of it. Part ON!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The hose is bigger than 4 inches, but there is only the one hose. it could be adapted to a smaller or square pipe possibly. We have had ours running for over a month and not had to empty it. there doesn't seem to be any kind of drain on it or in the instructions. I don't think it needs to be drained.
