A:AnswerThe Vent Fan is NOT part of the microwave. That fan is to exhaust what is being cooked on the range/stove. Whatever needs to happen to make the microwave work is completely independent of the Vent Fan.

A:AnswerThe product literature recommends that the TOP of the microwave be 30" from the top of the stove. So the bottom of the micro will be slightly more than 14" from the stove top. That should fit most standard kitchens that have a shortened cabinet above the stove - but measure yours to make sure. Mine is about 3" higher.
