“If the unit is in freezer mode & the power goes out, are you really saying it will switch to refrigerator mode when the power comes back, causing hundreds of dollars of frozen foods to spoil? Why wouldn't it restart in freezer mode? That's a deal killer.”

Hey, thanks for your question Scott! If power has been interrupted, once it has been restored the refrigerator/freezer FGVU17F8QF will go into the previous set mode. Hopefully this information is helpful to you in your search for a new appliance. –Thanks!-

Please try again later.So we have had power outages in the past and it has always went back to freezer mode, but yesterday power went out for 4 hours and I just happened to see almost 19hours after going out that it had went into refrigerator mode!! Luckily it hadn’t been opened and everything was still frozen inside! Took me a while to figure out how to convert it back though! That is not as simple as it should be!
