• That's a great feature the flat floor ( no element) and the recessed cup size strainer basket is the easiest to clean out. The design send to eliminate most cavities and pockets and my old strainer and heating element.

• Hey, thank you for your question Louie49! The filter on the dishwasher FGID2474QF is not a self-cleaning filter. We recommend cleaning it every month to keep any debris out of it. It may need to be cleaned out more or less often depending on your wash cycle. The filter is located directly under the bottom spray arm and is easily removable.
