“How does the ice makers work? In tandem or alone. I have the ice thru the door and in the freezer. I just want to utilize the thru the door feature. Please advise. Thanks”

Every 90 minutes or so, the fill tube will fill the ice tray with water. Once frozen the ice mold will dispense into the ice container and be available for dispensing through the door. If you choose not to utilize the ice maker in the freezer drawer you can simply keep it turned off. ~ Anna
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The lower unit has an on/off switch, by which it can be de activated, I would, however, ever so ofter run the unit and let it make a few cycles of ice, use or dump it, then switch the unit off.
