Hi LEIA, thank you for reaching out. You do not need to open the oven door to check your food on Model GCFE3059BF. The oven has a built-in interior light that can be turned on without opening the door. You can simply press the “Oven Light” button on the control panel, and the light will turn on so you can safely view your food while keeping the heat inside the oven. Opening the door is only needed if you want to physically check or adjust the food, but for normal monitoring, the light function is designed for that purpose. — Reed
