The refrigerator can be used free-standing. The outside of the sides and top is a satin black powder-coated finish. It looks nice. Freestanding is always a good to to add life to the refrigerator. There were no exposed cooling grids attached to the back like many other companies do.

Actually, the cause of death for most of these types of refrigerators is from being overheated or not enough air circulating around the unit. Mostly due to being installed in too small of an enclosed cabinet. The refrigerator still cools perfectly and I highly recommend this unit.
