Low wattage use as it is just a fan blowing air across water which can be chilled by adding ice cubes. There are numerous settings for Fan speed, side to side and a timer to shut such as in one hour, two hours or more, etc. It is not an air conditioner. We much prefer this to a smaller air conditioning unit on wheels we had that required a hole to be cut in the wall to vent hot air to the outside. Consider this a small version of a swamp cooler. We bought two - no regrets.
