Hi Slam! The device is primarily meant to be used as a streaming platform so while a Game Pass, Xbox Live, or even a GeForce Now subscription is greatly recommended, it is not required. This would limit you, however, to streaming from a console or PC directly to the device or the compatible games on the Google Play Store. It is not possible to download Xbox games onto the device with the expandable storage for offline access. As a streaming device, no Xbox or Game Pass games are actually played directly from the device. Hope this helps and thanks for the interest in our product!
