Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this drive spins at 7200 rpm. It is one of the reasons I purchased it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does. It is one of only a few external drives with this feature.

Please try again later. Not exactly sure of the answer to this question, but with my Windows 10 Pro installation, it runs significantly faster than with a plain USB 3.0 device. Keep in mind, you must have a proper USB-C port to get the faster speed. Don't purchase unless you have this (there is backwards compatability to 3.0, but it runs slower than a 3.0 device if this is the case, and is more expensive).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. From what I gather this model (the USB-C) version is NOT 7200rpm. The prior model (USB 3.0) and one above this (Thunderbolt 3) purport to be 7200rpm, but that doesn't appear to be the case with this one. Perhaps more confounding than trying to figure out why they would put a slower drive on the faster USB-C connection is that Western Digital has chosen to hide this from the consumer. The other two models list 7200rpm in their specs, but they don't list what's inside this one. Anywhere.
