      • Answer These devices are similar in some ways, such as screen size are both 5" and that they are both part of the essential series. The nuvi 52LM was released in 2013 and the nuvi 55LM was released in 2014. We have integrated some of our more advanced features into the nuvi 55LM, such as the Trip Planner app (which will allow you to create multiple stop routes with up to 30 stopping points per route), school zone warnings, and a quick search bar to make it easier finding addresses and points of interests. -NM

      • Answer The nüvi 55 and nüvi 55LM are the same device expect the LM stand for lifetime mapping. The nüvi 55LM will have unlimited map updates as we release them through out the year. ~JH

      • Answer If you are asking about a 'monthly fee' for using your GPS unit. There is no monthly fee. I have never heard of one being charged for using a GPS unit. You may have a fee to acquire some new maps, but not a monthly fee.
