Good question. The Data Overlay field is the ribbon of information that appears across the bottom of all recorded videos. This information includes the Garmin logo, current date/time, location coordinates and speed. The date/time, location and speed fields can all be turned off so they don’t appear on the video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, while actively recording, all you see on the Dash Cam's rear LCD screen is the view the camera is currently recording with a small horizon bullet to help orient the camera's view. The Date/Time, Lat/Long and vehicle speed (which can all be turned off or on) only appear when you replay a stored vid clip (The Garmin Dash Cam automatically stores 1 minute vid clips continuously) in its UNSVD folder. When an accident occurs, the current 2 minutes of video is automatically stored in the camera's EVENT folder. You can also manually save a vid clip so that it won't get overwritten by subsequent vid clips.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you download the garmin VIRB app, you can see saved and unsaved videos which will display speed, time, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does not show your speed on the camera screen in real time, like newer model cars have on their dash or on the app WAZE. But, when you replay the video it recorded, I believe they are saying it shows it on that sceen...only on the recorded video.
