No, the Garmin Dash Cam Mini2 does not have an internal battery. Instead, it has a super-capacitor that gives enough time for the Garmin Dash Cam to properly power down when external power is removed from the device.

If its powered from an ACC outlet that stays active for a time after shutting the car off, then it will stay active till power shuts off. If you just wire it up to a fuse that shuts immediately when car is turned off, then you'll have enough power in the camera to save the fire before it shuts down. I used an OBDII cable adapter, this provides me around 15 minutes of camera power when I run errands. It's clean, no wiring needed, just hide the wires behind moldings, plug it in and that's it.
