WiFi isn't used. Only needs view of sattelites through windshield. I have used my cell phone (Waze) for years but it's a nuisance (lost signals and maps when out of range of cell towers) and useless in the boonies where there is no signal. The maps appear complete and cover all roads in the national parks and even some dirt roads. You won't regret purchase.
