Ounce you identify the router plug in the pass word and you should be able communicate with the internet for updates. Me personally I prefer using the Garmin app on my laptop for control purposes and the information it provides. Hope this helps your decision on your purchase easier. I have traveled for a least the last 10 Year’s. Using various gps systems and garmin seems to be always what I come back too.
