Does it update automatically null

I have not noticed that this Garmin actually updates automatically, However if it is located close enough to a WiFi connection updates will be available for updates, I leave this device in my vehicle which is within range of my home internet system, It does alert me that an update is available.

No, you must update occasionally with you computer or laptop. You will have to download the app.
