Yes, this model includes Subscription-free map updates.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. It does have "lifetime" map updates. But, nothing is really free. During the update Garmin sucks up all your data: where you went, all your destinations, your driving speeds, (if you use bluetooth with your phone) all phone numbers you called, your contact list in your phone, etc. So, if you value your privacy, before you update your maps delete all history and reset the Garmin to factory defaults. Even then I am not sure you are safe, since Garmin has already played this scenario out. Good Luck.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.maps are free and i downloaded the latest the same day i got the unit. it says you don t have to be connected to a computer to download the updates but initially i had to update the software and maps. took about an hour on my computer.
