• No subscription required or Wi-Fi . Been using this from past 3 plus years without issue

• No it does not require one. You link it to your phone when driving to have live updates and your route will change based one heavy traffic.if you do not link it to your phone your route will still work just no live traffic rerouting due to heave traffic. You use wife or home internet to update the software and maps.
