• No. This GPS does not require a smartphone or cellular data to navigate or to search the pre-loaded database of businesses and addresses.

• The Short answer is yes. You need to down load the app and use your phone to enter the address and it sends it to your GPS. If you do not have a smart phone get the cheaper GPS
