• All you need as of 2026 is access to the internet. Give it your wireless password and it will download updates without any app or program at all.

• If you have access to a computer, use it to download the Garmin Express program and you can download and install device and map updates.

• Without a smartphone you will not get the full benefits of a DriveSmart device. However, you will be able to update the software and mapping via a computer using Garmin Express.
