I "just" upgraded because of an issue with my Fenix3 (with BB Geek Squad could either replace with new F3 or upgrade)... Based on what you've indicated is your primary usage, I would say not worth spending another $700 (or so) - the main upgrades that you'll notice "out of the box" will be battery life and screen resolution; you might find the embedded maps helpful depending on how much running you do though...

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, The big difference between the fenix 3 HR and fenix 5x is the fenix 5x has mapping on the device. It will include TOPO, Cycle mapping, and Golf course mapping. Both fenix models have running and SUP applications but the fenix 5 series has the Rep Counting feature on the watch. This feature will count the number of reps performed during exercise. The fenix 5 series will etect exercises that are designed to target single muscle groups/body part. Thanks Chris
