A:AnswerNo..., it is not compatible with Wear OS. It is a Garmin OS system. The Garmin IQ app is the Garmin app store for most Garmin devices. I have not seen an app in the Garmin app store that is compatible with this Rugged Garmin Instinct smartwatch yet. But if you are going to be in the wild for many many days and wanting a smartwatch..., then this is the smartwatch to have because of it's exceptional battery life.
As Garmin says..., "It is a smartwatch not like other smartwatches"...
Enjoy!!!
A:AnswerYou can not on this model. While this is a great running watch (overall a great watch for active lifestyle) it does not hold music.
If that is an important feature, I would say go with the forerunner music line.
A:AnswerWhen you receive a text message notification on your Garmin Instinct, you can send a quick reply by selecting from a list of messages. You can customize messages in the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app. Replying to a Message > From the watch face, select UP to view the notifications widget > Press Enter > Select a text message notification to respond to > Press DOWN > Select Reply > Select a quick message from the list > Your phone sends the selected message as an SMS text message. This feature is available only for smartphones with Android™.
This feature sends text messages using your phone. Regular text message limits and charges from your carrier and phone plan may apply. Contact your mobile carrier for more information about text message charges or limits. A:AnswerNo, unfortunately this watch doesn't support Strava directly. What it does allow is the transfer of workouts through the Garmin Connect app though. When you sync your watch to the app, you can have it set up to automatically upload your workouts to Strava. The Strava website has instructions on how to set this up if you google "Garmin Instinct Strava". Hope this helps!
A:AnswerIt is waterproof and would be fine in the ocean and it has a very good GPS unit that works automatically in swimming mode -- so I don't see why it wouldn't work in open water. It will use GPS to get your location to within a few feet, and is more accurate than other watches that don't use GPS. I do know that GPS does use a lot of battery life, and you'll need to charge it more often. I think (but don't recall) that you'll get about 8 hours of constant GPS tracking with a full charge.
A:AnswerThe Instinct Solar is not Golf compatible. For more information contact us at [email protected] or visit our Support Center, https://support.garmin.com/en-US/. Thanks Jenny
A:AnswerThe Instinct Solar does have the SUP activity, so you can use it without your phone being around, it will save it to be sync'd at a later date. For more information contact us at [email protected] or visit our Support Center, https://support.garmin.com/en-US/. Thanks Jenny
A:AnswerThey are the same. The Solar has the additional feature of using the sun to assit with charging. By the way Tundra is just a color option. For more information contact us at [email protected] or visit our Support Center, https://support.garmin.com/en-US/. Thanks Jenny
A:AnswerYes, the Instinct has a breadcrumb feature, it takes the guesswork out of your return journey by using the Tracback feature to navigate the same route back to your starting point.

A:AnswerUnless the Garmin took features away when they added solar panels to the watch, I have absolutely pulled mgrs from the instinct and was able to switch between many GPS location formats.
A:AnswerUnfortunately, just about every activity tracker has problems calculating actual steps when you're doing a lot of "non-walking" activities. If you were to grab three different trackers from manufacturers they'd all read very different numbers when it comes to "steps" if you do a lot of non-walking (like a lot of driving) -- which is what I did for many years. And one of those might be 'more' accurate but they're still going to be very far off from actual steps. And then we'd find that the person who sits at a desk all day long would have a different watch accurate for them, and so on. One time I bought two different watches and wore them on opposite wrists for two days, and I was shocked at the differences. Like 50% difference between the two. But it wasn't always consistent. But if you know that in advance, then you can adjust your expectations accordingly. Also, know that the 10,000-step thing that every activity tracker is marketing is based on some very dubious and faulty research. Instead, focus on improving your numbers comparatively day-over-day.
