“Do you have to have a phone package in order to use the traffic rerouting function. My husband and I do not have smart phone or bluetooth...yet. I want to plan for the future and have the capability open to us if we should want that. My question is can you use all the features of this Garmin without the phone services. (which cost more) Thanks”

No everything is built into gps no extra cost of any kind.

Please try again later.My understanding is that in order to use Live Services from Garmin, e.g. current traffic along your rout, weather conditions along your rout, current road conditions, you will need to have a smart phone, paired with your device via bluetooth. Additional benefit is that you can receive/make a hands free phone call on your device, when you have a smar phone connected to your device via bluetooth. You may also consider buying a microSD/microSDHC memory card. You will run out of space in resident memory on your device, while initially downloading and updating map data on your device.
