• No, the nüvi 57LM does not have traffic capabilities. Garmin automotive models that end in LT (lifetime traffic) or LMT (lifetime map updates and traffic) will include traffic alerts. ^DK

• No, the Nuvi 57 does not inform you of real-time, local traffic conditions. Models that have this feature use satellite communications in addition to GPS information. Some of the other (slightly more expensive) Nuvi models have this feature, so check their specs for it.
