• YES!! There is a setting which lets you choose AVOID HIGHWAYS. When you use this setting, you will take only streets and avoid highways, freeways, and the like. Please ignore the answer the other two people gave you. They are wrong. I am referring to the Nuvi 57LM -- if this is the one you mean. But I have had other Garmin GPS units, and they have all had the setting to avoid highways. It would be stupid to create a GPS without this setting.

• No, there is not a setting where you use streets only.
