Your saved locations do not get cleared when updating the mapping or software. Updates are done on the computer using a free program called Garmin Express, available as a free download here: http://garmin.com/express ^DK

Please try again later.I am not sure about the save destinations but it updates with the Garmin Express software you download from garmin site just run the softeare and then connect the GPS with USB cable supplied with unit just use add selection in Express software really easy
