• Yes, this product uses GPS to measure speed. This product is not a GPS unit for use in a boat.

• Speed is measured using your GPS coordinates. Because the nüvi 65LM does not have any water resistance rating, we do not recommend using it in a boat or in any other situation that may expose the device to water. -JPK
