• If you want English, you have a choice between 2 female voices. One says the road names you are turning on; the other one just says turn left or right. I'm not sure about the other languages.

• Yes, you can choose between a male and female voice. The voices are listed under the voice language portion of the menu. It will have a male or females name before the name of the language indicating the gender of the voice.
