Yes, you can use the device as a hands-free speakerphone, however Amazon Alexa cannot make outbound calls, but outbound phone calls can still be made through your vehicle's media controls, if available, or using your phone's onboard digital assistant (such as Siri or Google Now).

It will be through your car's BT connection... and yes, you can have the car AND the device connected at the same time assuming you have a phone that has that capability. I was using a Samsung Note 8.
