No, this watch is not the best solution to your problem. Reason is b/c you have to start and stop GPS. This would require your dad or mom to start the GPS before going somewhere. If this was my family member, I would buy a sporting device people use to track their family when they are on long mountain climbs, hikes, or bike trips. A good friend uses a GPS tracker called "SPOT" when he does cycling trips that last days or weeks. His wife and good friends can log on to the web and see a detailed google style map and icon showing his location. I track my friend's bike trips this way and it works well. Your mom/dad could put this in your dad's pocket or hang it around his neck. If he was missing, your mom, you, friends could log on to pull up a map of where your dad is located.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The vivoactive HR does not allow for a user to be tracked using the GPS in the device. There is a feature known as LiveTrack that allows someone to track a user that is doing an outdoor activity. This only works when paired with a smartphone and the LiveTrack feature is enabled. The feature is not designed to track someone suffering from dementia.
