“I am an athletic official/ref, and I sometimes have to dig into a pile of players or break up potential fights. Would I have to worry about this getting damaged beyond something that would obviously damage just about anything?”

Seems to be pretty durable, it is big enough that it gets in the way a little when in close physical contact with others. I imagine you could rip the band off or something, but the watch is a solid piece of plastic.
