To help maximize battery life, the vivoactive HR uses a variable sampling interval for resting heart rate, which will adjust based on a number of factors. The interval cannot be set to a specific interval. Best Regards, -OA

If you get on the website you can look at your heart rate throughout the entire day. As long as that green light is on, it is reading your heart rate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't see any option to adjust how often it checks your heart rate. You can set heart rate zones for a specific sport. If it is not a option made it would be found on a chest HRM. As for your first question it seems to actively check my heart rate every 1-5 seconds.
