• No. You can see the daily activities on the watch. You can also set alarms from the device. If you want to see the weather on the device, however, you'll need to have it comnected.

• It needs to be synced initially. You don't need to keep it synced all of the time though, but you won't be able to use the smart watch capabilities of it. But in order for you to update the watch software you'll need to sync it again.

• The vivoactive HR can be used to track activity with out syncing the device (the activity data can be viewed on the watch). But to take advantage of all the features that the device has to offer we would recommend syncing the vivoactive HR. This device can sync with a compatible smartphone or using Garmin Express on a computer.
