The vívoactive HR uses LED lights to measure bloodflow and calculate your heart rate. If worn properly, sweat should not cause an issue with the heart rate sensor's accuracy. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The heart rate monitor is on a slight cone-like projection which helps keep it firm against the wrist, and ideally, in closer contact with the skin. Last week I purchased an Apple Watch 2 and found it did not stay in contact with my skin sufficiently unless I tightened it to an uncomfortable level. I returned it and purchased this, it does everything the Apple watch does at half the price, including extremely accurate GPS route mapping for walks/runs. I cannot speak to the absolute accuracy of the heart monitor as compared to a chest band, but as long as it's consistent it doesn't matter. Very happy with this.
