In order to achieve a high level of corrosion resistance, stainless steel is used on the vivofit 3. Stainless steel alloys contain small amounts of Nickel. Although the parts comply with EU Nickel Release limit standards for metals in continuous contact with skin, people with Nickel sensitivities or allergies may still have a reaction. The vivofit 3 module is contained inside of a band so it is unlikely that any mental in the device would touch the skin.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm pretty sensitive to nickel (I break out in rashes when exposed) and I've worn the Garmin Vivofit for nearly two years without any problem. I usually wear it just slightly loose (so that the skin can breathe), but I have worn it really tight before for a couple of days at a time without issue. I did, just recently, wear it tight for nearly a week and had an issue with that, but I don't believe it's at all related to metal in the product. As I mentioned, I've been wearing this device for the better part of two years without any problem.
