The vivosmart HR + has a screen that you can set at the default screen (typically the time of day). You can then swipe on the screen to scroll to the heart rate screen in order to see your heart rate. The vivosmart HR + does contain a backlight that canbe used in lower light environments.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is a dedicated screen that displays your continuous heart rate. You do have to push a button to go into broadcast mode so it broadcasts your heart rate via ANT+.

The display is always on but you need a light to see it. There's no backlight on this one, it's like the old calculator, on positive note it saves a lot of battery.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Kind of both. It is tracking it pretty continuously but you just have to swipe to see it. I believe if you are on the clock function and swipe down once it goes to the heart are screen.
