“Does the gps feature work without having the phone within range? Will the gps work without having a phone paired to it?”

• GPS works on the golf course with the phone in my bag. It needs the phone nearby when identifying your golf course and downloading the course. As far as i can determine, it keeps one course on board so you only need to have the phone nearby when going to another course.

• Yes, the vívoactive has it's own standalone GPS chip set, it doesn't use a phone to acquire signal. The connection to the phone is used for uploading a completed activity to the Garmin Connect app. ~JH
