The way going about doing this is a process. It would take me a long time to explain how. But generally you can just set waypoints before starting your navigation that aren't in Connecticut. Then you can adjust (via a slider) on how 'scenic' you want your ride to be if that's something you fancy. This will try to turn you around on your designated route until you get to an impractical point where it would be costing you more time to turn around. I don't know if this will be helpful to you ( https://youtu.be/N4GXuFNqaOY. ) but I made a video with me just going through the entire device. Almost like a display of everything you can expect to see on this GPS and features without me saying a whole lot. Usually after watching this I'll get DM's with further questions that I can answer. If you have some sort of video service like Snapchat or like Facebook messenger, I can give you a live video showing you the answer to exactly what you are looking for before you make the purchase so you can be 100% sure. I love helping people out with this kind of stuff. All in all I think this gps would be a great buy. I've used Google maps to map out waypoints and sent them straight to my GPS. But again there's somewhat of a process in doing this but it works great once you have it down.
